Electronic Lab Notebook
#Labguru
Some time ago, Labguru laboratory management software was installed in the private cloud of the medical faculty. Labguru is a browser-based software that facilitates both the management of biomaterials (cell lines, strains, plasmids, primers, antibodies, etc) and consumables, as well as the efficient planning and tracking of projects and experiments. In this way, the use of the software holds great potential for more efficient use of resources.
In the meantime, Labguru is successfully used by many research groups and laboratories at the medical faculty.
Labguru is available via the Medical Faculty.
#ELN Finder - A service for selecting an electronic lab book
A common problem for researchers and FDM personnel is to keep track of the large market of ELN software (electronic laboratory notebooks) in order to select suitable ELN software or services for their own laboratory or institution. Up to now, there has been no continuously maintained and as complete as possible overview containing detailed information on the individual products, either on a national or international level. This gap is now closed by the web service "ELN-Finder" (https://eln-finder.ulb.tu-darmstadt.de). It is available in English.
In its current version, the "ELN Finder" has the following status: By means of a sophisticated metadata scheme, more than 40 filter criteria are available, which in turn are divided into clearly arranged categories. The result list of the identified ELN tools is displayed in an overview and includes, among other things, short descriptions of the individual tools. The "ELN Finder" currently contains detailed up-to-date information on about 20 different ELN software systems. Editorial procedures have been developed and tested for further expansion of the database and continuous maintenance. The service shall also serve the networking between users of the same system and enable the exchange of experiences.
The "ELN Finder" is organized by ZB MED - Information Center Life Sciences, the editorial team consists of numerous experts and users of ELN tools from all over Germany. The technical implementation as a web service is done by the University and State Library (ULB) Darmstadt, based on the open source software DSpace7.
