HIH VPN
#Introduction
Sometimes it is necessary to access HIH ressources from abroad. For remote access, a tunnel is set up from your own computer to the HIH subnet. This checks your authorization using the HIH login ID and password (the same as for cloud and fileserver). After successful authentication, you can connect to your special HIH ressource (e.g. a computing virtual machine) using its IP address.
To externally connect to the HIH fileserver or this documentation site, you will need to establish a VPN connection via the university.

#Troubleshooting
#Connection can not be established
- Please try to completely de- and re-install your VPN client software.
- On macOS try to use the "OpenVPN Connect" software instead of Tunnelblick.
#Tunnelblick settings
- The option "Check whether the apparent public IP address has changed after connection establishment" must be deactivated so that a connection to the server can be established.
